John Jarratt

For five decades, John Jarratt has been one of the most recognisable faces in Australian cinema. A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art, he emerged with the Australian New Wave and announced himself in Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock, before leading the landmark series The Last Outlaw as Ned Kelly.

The roles that followed read like a history of the national screen. We of the Never Never. The Odd Angry Shot. A turn so iconic in Wolf Creek that it carried him into global cinema. Quentin Tarantino cast him in Django Unchained. Baz Luhrmann placed him in Australia and Faraway Downs.

In 2025 he won Best Oceanian Actor at the Septimius Awards for What About Sal?. John is now preparing his next installment of the legendary Wolf Creek franchise, a project poised to be a worldwide hit with global distribution.
